Our photography comp takes off

In May we announced the winners of our inaugural Topflite photo competition, a great event we hoped our readers enjoyed as much as we did.

Our page had all kinds of beautiful, wonderful and occasionally weird photos during the event.

Our staff voted and the hands-down winner was Trevor Plunkett with his stunning image of sparrows and greenfinches. This was such an incredible image capturing all the grace and beauty of these clever little birds. Congratulations Trevor! Runners up were Ann Coates with her ‘friendly muscovy duckling’ and Miranda Sampson with a beautiful Tui.

In the under 16 section the winner was 6 year old Holly with her very handsome Kaka. Second place went to Charlotte, and Holly also got third place with her Tui shot.

You can check out our Facebook page for more great shots. A big thank-you to all who entered – we love that you love birds as much as we do!

The open category winner – Trevor Plunkett’s beautiful show.

Ann Coates with her cute muscovy duckling took runner-up spot in the open category
