This gift box is ideal for those keen to give their backyard friends a little energy boost and help sustain their natural source of live insects. Our Bug Hut is a great introductory ‘bug hotel’ that will entice bees and other insects to make your garden their home which will in turn, attract native insectivores such as fantails. The Wild Bird energy coconut is filled with our New Zealand made peanut flavoured energy food which will attract NZ native silvereyes and other backyard birds. The coconut feeders are natural coconut shells and can be used time and time again once empty. Also included is a handmade wild bird seed bell.

Contains:
1 x Bug Hut
1 x Wild Bird seed bell
1 x Wild Bird Energy Coconut
1 x Wild Bird Feeding and Identification Guide
1 x Gift card

1 handy re-useable wooden box

Instructions for use: Place Bug Hut and feeder well off the ground to keep birds safe from predators. It may take some time for the birds to recognise the new food items so be patient. Replenish food regularly and keep feeders clean. Always have fresh water available for your feathered friends.

FAQs

Where can commercially compostable packaging be processed in New Zealand?

A number of facilities around New Zealand accept commercially compostable packaging, and the list is growing.

  • Christchurch City Council Organics Processing Plant – Operated by Living Earth
  • Capital Compost – Wellington Southern Landfill
  • Revital - Central North Island including Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Taranaki
  • Palmerston North City Council (Awapuni Resource Recovery Park)
  • Hampton Organics – Hampton PARRC - Waikato
  • Envirofert Limited - Auckland & Waikato

An alternative is to find someone locally who makes “hot compost”. In this method of composting, the temperature of the heap rises to 55°C, just like a commercial facility. Our packaging will break down in a well-managed hot compost heap.
