Meet the team: Scott

Meet the team: Scott

Born and raised in Scotland, Scott moved to New Zealand with his family in 2012. Keen on the outdoors, it was a shared love of mountains and wilderness areas which drew them here. Now, some eleven years later, Scott continues to enjoy getting outdoors with his three dogs and takes his physical endurance to entirely new levels by participating in Ultra Marathon events.

Name:  Scott Wilson.

10 months.

Working in a family business with a connection to animals.

The people and the company culture.

Outside of work what are your interests?

I love to be in the mountains walking my dogs or testing my endurance in Ultra Marathon events.

What does your daily work involve?

Looking for ways to improve the business and our people for the future health of Topflite.  Every day is different and that is the challenge I enjoy.

What’s the one thing you always have to get right in your work?

It’s tough to get anything right all the time.  However, we try really hard as a company to look after our people.  I have seen many examples of this in my 10 months at Topflite.

What would you say you are most well-known for around Topflite?

Changing things probably (and being Scottish)  We are a growing business with aspirations for the future.  This comes with constant change.  The team adapt really well but we do need to keep in mind that change can be difficult for some.

There comes a time in the life of every problem when it is big enough to see yet small enough to fix.

My dogs and cat.

Mount Cook National Park holds a special place in my heart for many reasons.

What are you surprisingly good at?

Whistling.

What are your career goals?

I’ve never been career focused really.  I was taught early in the workplace to say yes to every opportunity that is in front of you and here I am.
